Filippo MariaGirotti

A chartered accountant, he focuses on international tax and extraordinary transactions, with particular attention to the tax aspects of M&A deals and cross-border reorganisations.

He gained his experience in the tax departments of major international tax and legal advisory firms in Milan and Bologna, assisting multinational groups and companies in the pharmaceutical, retail, manufacturing and energy sectors.

His areas of work include withholding tax and treaty-benefit analysis on cross-border dividends, interest and royalties, beneficial ownership reviews, the assessment and documentation of permanent establishments of foreign entities in Italy, the tax structuring of cross-border mergers, demergers and contributions, and the review of dividends from low-tax jurisdictions and related foreign tax credits.

He holds an MSc in Business Administration and Corporate Law from Bocconi University, with a thesis on the tax planning of M&A transactions and related due diligence, following an exchange at Aston Business School in Birmingham (MSc in International Accounting and Finance). He graduated in Business Administration from the University of Bologna with a thesis on taxpayers’ rights in tax proceedings. He works in Italian and English.
